On-Line References Provided To Help Set Personal Skating Goals

Skaters and their parents would like to make informed decisions that will affect their short and long term figure skating goals and objectives. The reference information is designed to serve as a starting point that allows additional research and investigation to be performed.

The articles cover a broad range of information designed to be an information resource to all USFS skaters, parents, coaches, judges, club officers and members of the Ice Skating Institute and USFS Basic Skating Skills Bridge Program.

The Web sourced materials are provided under the provisions of the "fair use educational research doctrine" allowed by United States copyright law.  Many younger skaters are elementary school students may not have the access or the ability to perform internet sources. Therefore, sufficient web resources are provided to allow them to read the reference materials and complete the topic assignments without performing web searches.

Skaters in junior and high school may have their own personal computers with internet access at home. Parents may wish to supervise web searches. Articles with a web source contains the URL of the site to facilitate a skater or parent in expanding their research on the topic after reading the article.

We have discovered that over time that links to many articles seem to disappear unless a stored copy has been reserved.

The reference materials are included as part of a distance education project being developed by Claude and Ruth Sweet, who are retired educators and USFS Gold judges in Free Skating, Pairs, and MITF, plus holding an International Dance Test appointment.

The references materials are provided as a service and may not be used to generate profit or be used for any commercial enterprise without written permission of the author(s) and the webmaster of this site.

Readers must determine the validity of each reference. Inclusion does not imply an endorsement of the content or opinions of the authors.
